I promised to write once we
left Gordon’s Bay, Goeie Hoop and South Africa behind us. So, here we are. We
left the cold Africa behind for warmer Europe (yes, that is correct).
After a very intense time of
saying goodbye, we got on the airplane. We do feel like all loose ends have
been tied- which is a good way to go. We have left all the beautiful people and
friends and children behind in God’s Hands, because there they are safe. And we
know that it is time for us to walk away.
We have arrived in Holland to
an overwhelming welcome. Everyone has gone out of their way to make us feel at
home: Carl’s mom’s backyard looks like a play park for children, family have
made their cars, homes, bicycles and whatever else we could need available. The
children are doing well- Rashelle and Simon especially. Tim is finding it
harder to adapt. He really struggled when our belongings left and we left our
house- the only house he’s known. I will mention this again at the end as
prayer point.
Ik
had beloofd om te schrijven als we Gordon’s baai hadden verlaten. Het is
inmiddels al een twee en een halve week en hebben Zuid Afrika in het koude weer
gelaten en het warme weer meegenomen naar Nederland. (een dag na ons vertrek
heeft het zelfs gesneeuwd in Kaapstad!)
Na
een intense tijd van afscheid nemen, zijn we op het vliegtuig gestapt met een
goed gevoel dat we toch ons werkzaamheden behoorlijk hadden afgerond. We hebben
de kinderen, collega’s en vrienden achter gelaten in wetend dat zij in God’s
handen zijn.
In
Nederland worden we warm onthaald door familie en vrienden en de tuin bij mijn
moeder was omgetoverd in een sort prive speeltuin door familie leden. De
kinderen spelen er heerlijk. Ook hadden we al snel een paar fietsen en door een
oud collega brandweerman zijn we aan kinderstoeltjes geholpen. Inmiddels al
heel wat kilometertjes er op zitten. De kinderen genieten van de natuur en van
alle dieren die overal te zien zijn. Voor Tim was het een moeilijker overgang
als voor Rashelle en Simon. De verhuizing heeft toch meer invloed op hem als de
andere twee en ook de lange avonden zijn moeilijk voor hem want hij denkt dat
het nog geen slaaptijd is.
We will be here until the 24th of July. During this time we
will visit friends and family, finish off our time at Goeie Hoop inside
ourselves and also present our plans for the project in Zambia.
So far, we know we will arrive back in South Africa at the end of July.
Then we will move to Lusaka which is the capital of Zambia. There we will stay
with one of the directors Hope Builders Ministries, Zambia, and his wife. This
will be while we sort out our work permits. Soon as this is done, we can move
to a smaller town- which one, we will all have to wait and see (it was to be
Isoka, but is probably changing again).
And this is as far as the plans are known to us. The idea is to help
with the starting of the Dignity projects- helping the local church to take
care of the widows and orphans. Our focus in the first months to one year will
be on learning before we can teach. We will have to adapt, as always. You know
our saying- blessed are the flexible, because they will not break. We will try
to keep you up to date as our preparations progress and as our internet access
allows.
There are some things we want to change:
1. In the past we had the website for the work
information and the blog for the personal news. Our website is no longer
operational, so we will use only the blog. Therefore, when we have interesting
things happen, we will place short articles on the blog. Once a month we will
still send out a newsletter, and then also post this on the blog. The blog

2. We currently have no physical address, and even our
telephone numbers change as we travel. So, if you need to get hold of us: ilnegous@hotmail.com – we will try to check this as often as possible.
As we change direction, we are dependant on God for every single step.
We have both been aware of God’s Peace which He promises in His word (Phil
4:7), and this is what we hold onto with both hands. Will you PLEASE pray with
us as we take these first steps:

That we will listen
to the Holy Spirit as He leads us daily. That we will make the time to become
quiet in front of His thrown, just listening.
·
That we will be
able to let go of Goeie Hoop and look ahead to what God has planned for us.
·
For our
children, since this is not their choice, and our choice to obey has
consequences for them. Especially little 2 year old Tim, please pray that he
will experience God’s peace in His little heart.
·
That God will lead every detail in the preparation, also as we speak to
people. That God will move their hearts to become part of the work.
·
That God will
be glorified in every thing we do, every day.

In onze stappen die we moeten nemen
zijn we afhankelijk van God, we vragen of jullie ons in jullie gebeden mee
willen nemen:

dat we Gods leiding goed verstaan.

Dat we in Zijn rust en vrede mogen wezen
·
Dat de kinderen deze veranderingen goed zullen opvangen, het
is niet hun keuze en dat zij ook God’s vrede in hun hart mogen hebben.

Dat God in alles geeert zal worden.
