Yesterday was a day of disillusionment to me. For a long time I have viewed Jeremiah’s wife as one of my inspirations. One of those behind the scene hero’s that made Jeremiah’s work possible. Even though she has never been mentioned in the bible, she had impact because she made it possible for her husband to fulfil his ministry, and have huge impact in the world. That gave me a feeling like all the extremely unimportant things I keep myself busy with, has some purpose. And then yesterday, I found out Jeremiah was single, and with that I found out my hero was an illusion.

OK, so I’ll take my tongue out of my cheek now. It is sometimes very unromantic on the mission field as the wife of so-and-so. And it is a very quick cure for pride. Very little I do today will change tomorrow. On the other hand, the little I do today, does make sure we all get to tomorrow alive. So, I guess that counts for something:

Col 3:23 “Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord, not for human masters.”

I have found a whole bunch of photo’s, so I think I am going to be more quiet, and allow the pictures to tell the story about a busy month:

On th 27th of July, we got to witness this beautiful lunar eclipse.

Psalm 8:1” Lord, our Lord, how majestic is your name in all the earth! You have set your glory in the heavens.”

On the second of August, Jeanet (who is helping us in many ways) wrote an article in a young magazine in the Netherlands, so our children had their first moment of fame

In the beginning of this month we had a baptismal service at our church for people who wanted to declare their faith publicly. The young man on the right, had the most heavenly smile as he came out of the water, it was almost as if he was expecting to see something. The young woman on the left is a friend of ours. She grew up Muslim, and recently came to meet Jesus because of seeds that other people have sewn. I now, am privileged to spend some time with her every week. She makes me want to cry sometimes, when I see how eager she just breathes in every word out of the Bible. When she had to be baptized, I asked if she was OK with the muddy water. She replied: that’s just how life is, when you look down, it is a mess, when you look up, it is all beautiful. She is teaching me so much!

This is her son with Simon

Carl’s vegetables are slowly going ahead. He is working on the whole tunnel idea, hopefully more about that soon.

Dam for the irrigation of the vegetables (enjoyed by the children;))

Chickens that will soon go into someone’s pot…

We bought an incubator from a friend, to try and hatch our one chickens.(On the right is a small incubator we are borrowing as hatching box, whole Carl builds his own:
The first chickens from the incubator. Turkeys expected this week.

My father, second from the left, came with a team from Tennessee for a few days. They did evangelism in the day time, and spend the evenings with us. Was really a great time, they just left yesterday, and we will miss them. Here a few pictures of them working in the villages:

(the last one is of them helping Carl make the hatching box).

We also met a man, that is praying about the possibility of joining us on a longer term. We need to see where this leads…

The reality of Islam in Africa.
Reality of our roads

Just some fun family pictures:

A trip to a dairy

Sunday School Holiday fun

Story to end with: We bought some new rabbits from a friend. On the way to us the one female had babies, in the car! So, we got 8 for the price of 4J On top of that, the friend then placed with wrong rabbit with the babies. Drama-drama.

Blessings, there is always something to smile at in life. Lots of love!
